A SEG Expert Spoke at Russian Tax Week
On October 16, 2026, Tatyana Malyavina, head of SEG’s tax practice, participated in a seminar session titled “The Impact of the Digitalization of Tax Audits on the Practice of Presenting Evidence and Handling Evidence at All Stages of Tax Disputes” as part of Russian Tax Week.
Her presentation focused on the Federal Tax Service’s new service, “How the Tax Authority Sees Me,” and its impact on day-to-day business operations. Today, the financial and operational activity report is gradually becoming a tool used not only for a company’s self-assessment but also for evaluating potential counterparties.
Tatyana highlighted changes that significantly expand the scope of information available through such a digital business profile. Specifically, these include indicators of business fragmentation, VAT gaps in the supply chain, a company’s resource base, comparisons of its performance metrics with similar organizations in the industry, and its track record in fulfilling government contracts.
A separate section of the presentation was devoted to the integration of tax authority data into procurement systems under Federal Laws No. 44-FZ and No. 223-FZ. As digital oversight evolves, certain criteria established by the Federal Tax Service may increasingly influence a company’s ability to participate in procurement and pass automated checks.
For businesses, this means that tax transparency is gradually extending beyond direct interaction with the Federal Tax Service. A company’s digital profile can affect its relationships with customers, counterparties, and partners, and therefore requires constant attention and proactive risk assessment.
At SEG, we view these changes as part of a broader trend toward the digitization of oversight and increased business transparency. It is important for companies to understand what data about them is being generated in government systems, how it can be interpreted, and what consequences this may have for their current operations and new transactions.
SEG experts’ participation in professional industry events allows us to track changes in practice and take them into account in a timely manner when advising clients.
